Our friend Deb Shattuck emailed me last week and mentioned that she had a new book out. It's called Bloomer Girls: Women Baseball Pioneers and covers what I think is one of the more neglected areas of 19th century baseball history. The book looks great and I'm looking forward to reading it. I'm certain that Deb has done a great job with it and the book is well researched and written. In all honesty, I can't think of anyone better to have written this book.
The New York History Blog has a nice write-up if you're interested in reading a bit more about Deb and the book.
