So it looks like I'm back in business. I've done a few things this week as far as cleaning up my computing machine and that may have fixed things. I'm not sure how stable or permanent the situation is but it's a lot better than it was. I really don't know what happened or why or what fixed the problem that I never understood. So I'm not going to question it. This website is all about looking forward, not backwards. Wait...that's not right. Never mind. I'm just glad that the problem is fixed and I can get back to doing whatever it is that I do here.
I had a nice two month break and - I can't lie to you - for the first month or so, I wasn't really missing it. I've been doing this for ten years now and sometimes it was a grind. Sometimes it was a struggle to get stuff posted. Sometimes I really wanted to chuck the whole thing. There were many times when I thought about retiring and becoming an ex-blogger. But the last few weeks, I've missed working with the material. I missed the research and the digging. So I'm honestly ready to get back at it.
I don't know what I'm going to do. What were we talking about when this all went down? The 1897 season? Meh. I think I'm going to go back to the beginning and start talking about early bat and ball games in the Illinois Country. That's what I'm really interested in and I think an exploration of that material could lead to in some interesting directions. Give me a couple of days to get my notes together and we'll get back to it.
Happy days, indeed.
